Fast Break – Secondary Break

Fast Break – Secondary Break

This basketball drill is a great way to simulate a game-type fast break situation. It works on improving full speed decision making skills and how to recognize your team’s advantages.

Keys to success: Emphasis should be on quick decisions and quick passes before defenders can react and recover. Players running down sidelines must remain wide to spread defense out. First post player must run to the basket and be ready for pass from player running down sideline. Point guard must pass ahead along sidelines if someone is open – this forces the defenders to make decisions quickly.

Elapsed Time: This drill is complete after two trips up and down the court. Make substitutions and continue for 5-10 minutes.
